Fridge Buddy

Fridge Buddy is a smart fridge magnet designed to help seniors manage food expiration dates and reduce waste. The system integrates a tactile rotary interface and a simple display, offering an intuitive experience for users with memory or sensory decline.

My Role

I led the mechanical and CAD design, transforming early sketches into a manufacturable prototype. My focus was creating a smooth rotary motion, compact internal housing, and comfortable ergonomics.

Key tasks:

  • Designed planetary-gear mechanism and magnet coupling for the rotary encoder

  • Modeled the full enclosure in SolidWorks for the ESP32-S3 board and TFT round display

  • Coordinated fit between electronic and mechanical component
